The operation begins with a small incision in the skin of the area to be treated, then a thin tube (cannula) connected to a suction device is inserted to remove fat from under the skin. In some cases the fat is not just removed but re-injected into other areas the patient wants to enhance, such as the buttocks or face, to achieve a more balanced figure.

After the operation, it is recommended to wear elastic compression garments that help the skin adapt to its new shape and enhance the results.

Types of body contouring
